From now on, Barbon will use cacao beans from one single origin – Honduras
In fact, in all transparency, the supply of the cacao beans from Ecuador has been limited, and it has been challenging to make the product available on a regular basis. This is the reason why the decision to shift to Honduras was made.
Unfortunately, because of this change, the Léopard bars will no longer display the medal that was won with the Ecuador beans at the International Chocolate Awards in 2019, but rest assured that the high quality of the product will not be affected.
It’s no secret that Montreal is home to some of Canada’s best bean-to-bar chocolate producers and Barbon is proud to be mentioned in this list of Montreal’s best chocolate shops.
These past weeks chocolate has been flowing non stop for Barbon! Proud donor partner of the Montreal Passion Vin 2020 edition, Montreal’s most attractive wine event, Barbon donated 350 chocolate bars for the benefit of Fondation de l’Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont. This year, due to the pandemic and health guidelines, the fundraising event will be virtual. Barbon is proud to announce that the “Léopard 70%” Crunchy Maple won the Tasters Prize bronze medal at the 2019 International Chocolate Awards World Final.
Barbon is among the Chocolate Taster’s Finalists of the 2019 International Chocolate Awards World Competition. Winners will be announced at the celebration taking place in Antigua, Guatemala, on November 18th 2019.
Barbon received bronze medals at the Americas competition of the International Chocolate Awards for the products “Léopard 70%” Crunchy Maple and “Lion 85%” Pure Albino. As a result, the products will be automatically eligible for the world’s final competition in Florence, Italy, in October 2019.It is important to say that, when Barbon’s products were sent in for competition, two out of four products were sold out. Barbon won two medals on two products sent.
